This is the original function David Lynch drew up of Twin Peaks to sell ABC execs the show ’s pilot installment . Its purposefully off - kilter topography reflects the show ’s mysterious goings - on .

The peaks of the claim , and the town they name , are clearly visible as white - top spate rising out of the model landscape painting . By create a sense of place , Lynch made the town all the more credible . A straightforward function would have been irksome by comparison and might have intimate that there was something in and of itself interesting about the geographics of the shoes . What was much more important to get was the climate of the story , and it ’s nicely captured in Lynch ’s quirky drawing .
