DescendantsnewcomersKylie CantrallandMalia Bakerwill reprise their roles as Red and Chloe, the daughters of the Queen of Hearts and Cinderella, respectively. Leonardo Nam will also return as Maddox Hatter.
The upcoming film will be set primarily in present-day Wonderland and explore “what ‘happily ever after’ is really like for Red and Chloe, following their return from their time-traveling adventures,” according to the film’s official synopsis. “The sequel delves into the warning at the end of the previous movie: ‘There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time.’”
A few new descendants will join the franchise, including Liamani Segura as Red’s sister Pink, Brendon Tremblay as Max Hatter, Alexandro Byrd as Luis Madrigal and Kiara Romero as Hazel Hook. More characters will be confirmed at a later date.
The addition of Segura marks a miniHigh School Musical: The Musical: The Seriesreunion for Cantrall , who starred alongside the actress on the Disney+ series.

“The love for the Descendants franchise runs deep, and the incredible response toDescendants: The Rise of Redlast year proved just how much fans are invested in these characters and their stories,” Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis said in a statement.
Rise of Redscreenwriters Dan Frey and Ru Sommer are also returning to write the upcoming sequel alongside Tamara Chestna. The production is scheduled to begin soon, with Kimmy Gatewood directing the film.

The originalDescendantstrilogy was based onThe Isle of the Lostbook series. The first films premiered on Disney Channel in 2015, 2017 and 2019. The films chronicled the lives of four teenage children of Disney villains, including Maleficent’s daughter Mal (Dove Cameron), the Evil Queen’s daughter Evie (Sofia Carson), Jafar’s son Jay (Booboo Stewart) and Cruella de Vil’s son Carlos (Cameron Boyce).
Two years after the third live-action film, an animated special titledDescendants: The Royal Weddingpremiered. The special focused on Mal and King Ben (Mitchell Hope)’s nuptials. It was also the first installment without Boyce, whotragically diedof an epileptic seizure. at age 20 in July 2019. BothDescendants 3andDescendants: The Royal Weddingpaid tribute to Boyceand his beloved character.

The Descendants’fifth film will premiere in 2026. The first four films are available to stream on Disney+.
