On Jan. 9, the broadcast journalist celebrated her 13th anniversary on the daytime show and slipped right back into her signature yellow and whiteAlex Kramer dress, the very one she wore on her first day as a cohost in 2012.
While accepting congratulations from her co-anchors Nate Burleson and Vladimir Duthiers — and a yellow rose bouquet fromDrew Barrymore— King said the occasion seemed “insignificant considering what’s going on in the world today.”
“I’m very happy to be here 13 years later, but I still keep thinking about what’s going on in California, but thank you so much for this,” she added in reference to thewildfires raging across Southern California.

King has reworn the dress every anniversary and, despite it being a little “tattered,” she continues to show it love year after year.
On her 12thCBS Morningsanniversary, Kingshared the backstorybehind choosing the sunny design. “I knew I wanted to wear yellow on my first day because it’s my favorite color,” King recalled. “And I said, ‘I’m going to wait and see if I’m still here and then I’m going to wear it again.’ 12 years later, here we are! Still psyched to be sitting here.”

On Dec. 28, 2024, King celebrated another major moment in her life — her 70th birthday!
Beforehand, her longtime friendOprah Winfreythrew her asurprise bashto which she had the most shocked reaction. In a video shared toInstagram, King could be seen fully taken aback as a room full of guests began to sing “Happy Birthday” to her.
But, Winfrey had one more surprise in store for her bestie on the day: invitingTyler Perryto an intimate dinner with King’s friends and family.
Of course, there was no shortage of yellow at the get-together as King’s loved onesoutfitted themselves in her most-loved hue. She wore a casual butter yellow knit dress and tinted glasses. In addition to the themed outfits, King’s bash also included a lemon-yellow multitiered birthday cake topped with sparklers.
“All I can say is turning 70 is a blast especially when @oprah digs into her bag of ‘surprises. ‘This time one of my favorite people on the planet @tylerperry showed up for dinner! Open to all new adventures .. looking forward to 2025 !!” King wrote onInstagram.
