The filmmaker and studio apartment just announced two new literary genre films , one of which del Toro will write and direct , the other he ’ll bring on .
Variety reports that del Toro and Kim Morgan will co - write a remake of the 1947 picture show Nightmare Alley , with del Toro attached to calculate . The original film was a film noir about a bunco man and psychical who outmaneuver each other while working at a carnival . The other film , which del Toro will grow , is called Antlers , and it ’ll be directed by Crazy Heart ’s Scott Cooper .
