Queen Mary has worn the gown before, but there’s another reason it might look familiar — Princess Kate has sported the same dress on multiple occasions! Mary was the first to bring attention to the dress, which features shoulder pads and silver sequin details at the collar and waist, when she wore it for a50th birthday portraitin 2022.

Queen Mary wore the dress again to the Arts and Culture Ball last Friday, and she styled it in a similar way to Princess Kate. The Danish Queen sported the glam gown with her hair down and tiara pushing it back, like Kate has, plus a pair of statement earrings she had commissioned,The Court Jewellerreported.
The King and Queen welcomed representatives from the world of arts and culture to the Arts and Culture Ball last week, marking their first time hosting the event since his accession in January 2024. The couple arrived at the Great Hall with arms linked and hit the dance floor during the bash, where the King made a speech.

The Arts and Culture Ball is a rich tradition in Denmark, tracing back to the reign of King Christian VIII in the 19th century. Frederik’s ancestor had a great passion for the arts, culture and science, and would convene select guests for parties at the palace.
After dinner at the royal ball, King Frederik and Queen Mary hopped up to dance Les Lanciers and were light on their feet in a video the court shared onInstagram.
“For more than 150 years, Les Lanciers has been danced at the Court’s parties. To this day, it is still a tradition that is upheld at a number of the Royal House’s events,” the Danish Royal House said in astatement.
Queen Mary and Princess Kate seem to have a similar sense of classic fashion and shareother brands like Beulahin their royal wardrobes.
