Shannon Sharpelaughed off a makeup-related blunder during his appearance on ESPN’sFirst Takethis week.
As Sharpe, 55, debated the latest in sports news with hostStephen A. Smith, viewers noticed his makeup was a bit more overstated than his usual look on the show, and the internet enjoyed poking fun at the analyst’s new appearance.
One user on X (formerly Twitter)jokedthat Sharpe looked like he had “funeral makeup” on, while another usersaidhe looked like “a mean lunch lady” on the social network.
Sharpe, who recentlydeparted his years-long gig at FS1forUndisputedalongside Skip Bayless, took to X to address “concern” over his viral makeover, and explained he had a new makeup artist that day.
“Appreciate the concern over my makeup this morning on@FirstTake. This was her 1st time doing my makeup and it was a little heavy,” Sharpe wrote. “My appearance is important not as important as my takes. Hopefully, the takes were gr8 as usual.#LipSparringChamp#BestDressed#Espn”
When one user told Sharpe he looked like fictional transgender basketball player Juwanna Mann from the 2002 movie of the same name, the ESPN analystrebuked, “I’ll live and still extremely blessed.”
Another reply from Sharpe addressed why he pays attention to online trolls mocking his appearance. “I appreciate them watching and supporting me,” Sharpewroteon X.

Sharpe notably took issue with a tweet Bayless wrote aboutDamar Hamlin, following the Buffalo Bills safety’s cardiac arrest during a game in January.
